E3 2012 | Three New IPs Revealed During Microsoft Briefing

While Microsoft’s media briefing was filled with news on already established IPs such as Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, Microsoft took to time to reveal three new IPs. The first is from Signal Studios, and is an action-RPG called Ascend: New Gods, with beasts that remind us of Shadow of the Colossus, gore that reminds us of God of War, and graphics that have the slick, yet beefy look of Gears of War. While the trailer seems to be a little underwhelming, it’s the summary of the game’s story on the game’s website that has us interested:

An ancient prophecy foretells that when the reign of the Titans comes to an end, one of the Three Gods will claim victory over their brethren and rise to a position of ultimate power.

Fueled by their thirst for conquest, the gods have waged a heavenly war – each seeking to claim the mortal world as their own.

You will be their champion.

This is one game we here at TGF are definitely going to be keeping out eye on.

The next game revealed by Twisted Pixel, LocoCycles reminded us of Tron: Legacy‘s cycles, which may not necessarily a bad thing, but we’ll have to see when they actually show is something other than the bike in the trailer. Check out our article on LocoCycle here.

Finally, a game created by the mind of Gore Verbinski, the guy that direct Pirates of the Caribbean. That game is called Matter. The trailer shows a flying eye-ball thing that looks like something out of Portal. We see futuristic environments that morph and move around, but like LocoCycle, this trailer doesn’t show much of anything.

While these two games may be amazing, they were very underwhelming reveals that didn’t do much other than leave us scratching our heads rather than wanting more. While that’s not exactly the reaction you want to aim for, we’ll keep and open mind and hope we see more soon.
